James Wright, Jr. Fine Arts Award
- In memory of Professor James Wright, Jr. a Founding Member of the Ulysees Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc.
- He was a Elementary School General and Vocal Music Teacher for over 30 years.
- He was the Minister of Music for Lilydale 1st Baptist Church for over 20 years specializing in Anthems, Hymns, Negro Spirituals and Traditional Gospel music
- Award amount is determined by UTMSF, Inc. Distribution is determined by Dr. Anthony Jackson and the UTMSF, Inc. Board of Directors
Eligibility
- Must be an active member of a Christian Church
- Open to all gifted singers and instrumentalists
- Must be able to sight-read or be committed to learning how to sight-read
- Must have at least one year of musical experience. (i.e. Singing as a soloist and/or in a group/ensemble. Playing an instrument as a soloist, accompanist, or in a group/ensemble)
- Be committed to ongoing formal training to hone musical skills and abilities
- Must provide a clear color picture (jpeg/tiff) involved with the organization (uniform, choir robes, activity related to the organization).
- Record and upload a 3–5-minute video showcasing your best work in .mpeg format. Choose any traditional hymn, or any traditional or contemporary sacred church music.
- Must be nominated and receive 1 recommendation from a Youth Church Member or Adult Youth Sponsor
